Surfacing

Hazel Dooney’s photograph of herself underwater, just as she surfaces to take a breath. Black bikini top, white skin, blue green ocean and lots of air bubbles.

After re-laying the foundation for my career as an independent artist, I'm returning to a weblog / newsletter hybrid.

Over the last years I worked on major commissions (with most of the works remaining private); developed new art under the patronage of venture capitalist Mark Carnegie; built this website; wrote a chaptered narrative column for Coagula Art Journal, founded and edited by American art critic Mat Gleason; provided digital strategy to Australian art critic John McDonald for a direct-to-reader digital subscription model; began developing new series of paintings in acrylic on linen, from which new works can be commissioned; and wrote a guide to DIY Web 2.0 Empowerment for artists, available as a short-term digital subscription.

My writing here will be a combination of art, ideas and updates which can be read onsite or delivered via email.
