Copyright + Secondary Market
Hazel’s recommendation for secondary market sales and contact details for Copyright Agency, who manage licensing and copyright permission requests on behalf of the artist.
Sex, Drugs, Whatever (a critique of advertising), Hazel Dooney 2001. High gloss enamel on custom-made board, 100cm x 150cm / 3’3” x 4’11” approx.
Hazel recommends that her secondary market artworks are bought and sold through 63 Jersey Art Sales, an initiative of Tim Olsen and Brett Ballard (email: info@olsengallery.com or brett.ballard.art@gmail.com ). Please note that the painting above is an example of the artist’s early work, it is not currently available.
To ensure collectors retain choice, the artist will still consent to copyright approval requests by auction houses, as per the terms of their agreement with Copyright Agency that Hazel Dooney is on their list of ‘prior approval’ artists to prevent the sale of fraudulent and stolen artworks.
Collectors should be aware that a number of artworks dating from 2001 to 2006 including studies were stolen and thefts have been reported to police. Also note that high gloss enamel paintings on board must be hung from two points only. Against instruction by the artist, multiple works sold via galleries between 1998 and 2002 were delivered to collectors strung which, if not corrected, will eventually cause structural damage.
